ArtsKC Art/Work Program The dress, "Calder Couture," was created by Erin Allen, Jennifer Dickson, Sonya Jury and Gerilyn Goeddel, all from Burns & McDonnell's A&F department.

Sure, Burns & McDonnell is known for its world-class engineering services. But that doesn't mean we ignore our creative side! Several of our artistically talented employee-owners are participating in ArtsKC's Art/Work Program, a program from Kansas City's Art Council, which kicked off Sunday, July 17, in Union Station's gorgeous Great Hall.

As Kansas City’s Art Council, ArtsKC's mission is to bring arts to the community through growing participation, appreciation and support. Its programs integrate art and economic development for Kansas City through funding, scholarships, art shows and competitions.

And since we're all about community involvement, especially when it involves opportunities for Kansas City's kids, we were thrilled to join the list of fantastic companies that are part of the Art/Work Program, a citywide corporate arts challenge.

Seventy-five people entered our on-site competition, which was judged by fellow employee-owners. Our in-house show winners are on display at Union Station and are competing against entries from the other 26 participating companies.

We'd love to invite you to Union Station to check out all of the amazing artwork. And if you're so inclined, feel free to vote through the Art/Work Facebook page. The finals and award ceremony, a free family-friendly event, will be at 7 p.m. on Aug. 5 at the Gem Theater.
